Components Lab Technician 1 Full-Time - Des Moines (DM-CompTech1-FT-1130)

Want to develop a career in a growing field while helping to save lives? LifeServe Blood Center currently has a full-time opening as Component Lab Technicians in our Des Moines, IA location. In this position, you will be working in our state-of-the-art laboratory preparing blood donations for hospital patients by manufacturing blood products into the specific blood components to treat the patient’s need.

Primary Responsibilities for this Position Include:
•Perform component manufacturing procedures according to established policy and SOP.
•Perform review of component manufacturing and equipment related documentation and release of quality
 control results.
•Perform and document calibration and maintenance tasks.
•Identify, troubleshoot and document problems that may influence the quality or completion of
 manufacturing.
•Assist with writing, review and evaluation of SOPs.
•Assist with validation of new equipment and manufacturing processes.
•Maintains regular attendance and availability
•Maintains confidentiality of LifeServe Blood Center donor, employee, financial and proprietary records
 and information at all times.
•Ability to multi-task and set priorities is essential.
•Demonstrate qualities of integrity, credibility and commitment to the organization's mission.
•Demonstrate professional behavior at all times.

Hours Available:
The schedule for this position will be 7:00 PM - 3:30 AM.

Education or Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent is required, experience preferred

Responsibilities of this position:

  • Performs assigned tasks and procedures as they pertain to manufacturing, storage and distribution of blood and blood-related products
  • Product labeling
  • Irradiation of blood products
  • Receiving and fulfilling orders
  • Proper packing of blood products for transport/Arrange for transport and delivery of blood products to hospitals
  • Tracking and reporting on product inventory
  • Addresses procedural, technical and equipment problems
  • Identify, troubleshoot and document problems that may influence the quality or completion of shipping and component manufacturing

Qualifications

  • Ability to perform standardized/highly regulated work using established procedures
  • Exhibits strong attention to detail with excellent organization and communication skills
  • Proficiency with computers is a must; experience with MS Office is preferred

  • Perform routine blood collection
  • Assist with medical history screenings
  • Maintaining a clean, well-organized collection area
  • Interacting with volunteer blood donors in positive, upbeat manner

Hours Available: 

  • The schedule for this position will be Monday - Saturday, working variable hours between 5:00 am - 10:00 pm

Education and/or Experience:

Medical Testing Technician – Full-time Position – Des Moines, IA (DM-DTT-FT-1125)

Join our team! LifeServe Blood Center currently has a full-time opening for a Medical Testing Technician (Donor Testing Tech) at our state-of-the-art laboratory in Des Moines, IA. This position performs critical functions to test blood components in order to meet the needs of our hospital patients.  

Primary Responsibilities for this Position Include:

  • Accepts, verifies, and processes incoming blood
  • Performs and interprets various testing procedures on donor and patient blood products, repeating tests where appropriate
  • Maintains and monitors required records and files
  • Performs quality control, equipment maintenance and calibration as required
  • Identifies and resolves potential patient care issues related to transfusion
  • Mentors and train other laboratory team members and students as required
  • Utilizes computer system to obtain necessary data and to record test results
  • Participates in the ongoing monitoring for each testing process to identify errors or potential problems leading to errors and takes effective and preventive corrective actions when indicated  

Hours Available:

The available shift is Tuesday - Saturday working 3:00pm-11:30pm.

Education and/or Experience:  

  • Bachelor's degree in a biological science or related scientific field from an accredited college or university or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training and or experience.
  • MT or MLT from American Society for Clinical Pathology, preferred

Hours Available: 

  • The hours scheduled for these positions will vary within the Call Center Hours which are Monday - Thursday 8:00 AM - 8:30 PM, Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM and Saturday 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM.  This position requires Saturday 8:30 - 5:00 shift.

Requirements:

  • 1 year previous customer service experience required
  • Working knowledge and experience working on computer system required
  • Call center experience preferred

Hospital Relations Coordinator, Des Moines (DM-HospRelCoord-FT-1113)

Primary Responsibilities of this position include:
* Maintain hospital customer contract database
* Visit hospitals annually
* Plan value services and educational opportunities for medical, laboratory and nursing staff
* Identify new revenue opportunities for the blood center
* Technical liaison to hospital customers
* Identify and share prospective hospital clients with Vice President of Business Development
* Provide oversight and interaction with departments for implementation of new programs
* Organize/manage hospital blood bank manager/supervisor educational meetings
* Onboarding and training of new hospital clients

Educational Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree required
* Medical Technology (MT), Medical Laboratory Specialist (MLS), or Medical Lab Technology (MLT) certification preferred
* 4 years sales, customer service or directly related experience preferred

* Current driver's license in good standing

Product Management Driver - Sioux City (SC-PMDriver-PT-1112)

Join our team!  LifeServe Blood Center currently has a part-time opening for a Product Management Driver in our Sioux City location.

This position is responsible for transporting of blood products and/or specimens between service hospitals and our fixed site.  This requires quality and timely service to our customers in a courteous manner.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

*  Provide transportation for blood products, blood samples and supplies in a manner that ensures    compliance with all regulatory agencies.
*  Reports vehicle issues to and coordinates repairs or maintenance with the appropriate individuals.
*  Reports any situations that may have impacted product, sample or supply quality.
*  Reports any work related accidents or injuries to the appropriate individuals.
*  Meets expectations regarding scheduled pickups/deliveries and on call hours.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: 

*  High School Diploma or equivalent
*  An excellent driving record (MVR)
*  One year previous experience

Hours will be variable with most shifts occuring Monday - Friday. Scheduled hours can be anytime from 5:00 A.M. - 10:00 P.M. Additional runs will be taken as able.
