Recognition Events
At the Siouxland Community Blood Bank, it's all about our volunteer blood donors. We appreciate everything they do for the patients in the 37 Siouxland hospitals we serve.
Donor Recognition
|
Each year we hold a banquet to recognize our consistent volunteer blood donors. Recognition is given to any donor that has reached a gallon marker starting at 10 gallons and upwards in increments of five. The donor is awarded a polo shirt. The evening involves a fine dinner with a speaker from the community who has been on the receiving side of the blood donation either personally or through a family member. Donors are invited to attend the Donor Recognition Banquet based on the calendar year in which they reached their gallon marker. For instance, if you reached 10 gallons in 2008, you will be invited to the 2009 Donor Recognition Banquet.

Car Washes
 |
Throughout the summer we invite Sioux City metro high school students and other student organizations to participate in a blood donor awareness car wash. Each Friday one group (student council, show choir, etc.) hosts a day at the blood bank.
Before their appointed day the students call donors and make appointments for them to donate - many of the students donate as well! On the day of their car wash, they take turns washing the donors' cars outside of our main office at 1019 Jones Street.
Each Friday the number of donors that registered that day is tallied up and at the end of the summer the group with the most donors is awarded a cash prize for their organization.

Give the Gift Educational Scholarship Program
|
At the Siouxland Community Blood Bank, we are proud to have strong bonds with high schools in the Siouxland area. To show our deep appreciation for the commitment the high schools have given us, high schools that hold blood drives in the fall and spring semesters of their calendar year are eligible to receive a scholarship for one of their students. Each school that holds a blood drive and registers 50 blood donors in the fall is eligible to remain in the scholarship running. If their second blood drive, which must be held in the spring, also registers 50 blood donors, they will receive a scholarship for one of their seniors.
